Welcome to BSL UPTAKE

Welcome to BSL UPTAKE. This website has information about:

• The Deaf community – users of British Sign Language (BSL) – in Scotland and beyond.
• Research information from Scottish universities and elsewhere about the Deaf/BSL community
• Information about the Scottish Government, local authorities and other public bodies (including the UK Government) of interest to Deaf BSL users.

We all have knowledge and information that can be useful to each other. The problem is, sometimes we don’t know how to find this knowledge, to exchange and share it with each other. BSL UPTAKE offers us resources to support each other better by sharing our knowledge.

Above all, BSL UPTAKE needs YOU to share YOUR knowledge with everybody else. Whether you’re Deaf or hearing, work for the Government or a university or just have an issue or a piece of information you want to share with us, you can send us your information – or ideas – in either BSL or English. We’ll translate some of your contributions into BSL or English so that everybody can share them.

Please join us and be quick on the BSL UPTAKE!
