Scoping Study, Part 11 – Other issues

Informants reported that DVDs, essential to coursework in schools, are not routinely subtitled. It is suggested that it becomes the norm for all coursework DVDs to be subtitled across all sectors – and that BSL translations of key DVDs are provided.

Monitoring and quality control systems within F&HE do not currently address the complexities of assessment and access/support services provided to deaf students throughout the lifetime of their courses.

There is a need to for reconsideration of the fact that deaf students on Access courses are still not eligible for DSA.
